The Pre-Analytics Processing Technician is responsible for manually processing laboratory specimens, performing daily quality assurance activities, and maintaining equipment. A caregiver in this position variable shifts from 6:30AM – 1:30PM or 7:00AM – 2:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Receive and accession specimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).
-
Prepare specimens for analysis.
-
Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solving functions, and issue resolution.

Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).

Perform QA activities (pending log audit).
-
Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.

Perform basic clerical functions (i.e., answering phones).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High School Diploma or GED
-
One year of lab experience OR associate's degree
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Associate's degree, preferably in a science related field

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements

Extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting

Handling and transporting bio hazardous materials

Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors

Lifting and/or carrying objects up to 25 pounds
