Cleveland Clinic’s Nurse Associate Externship (NAE) program sets future nurses up for success with hands-on and classroom learning from experienced professionals. This paid 10-week summer program is available to BSN and ADN students entering their senior year and includes working 1-on-1 with a nurse mentor, along with time with fellow externs in a classroom setting.

Clinical opportunities are available in a variety of specialty areas, including medical/surgical, critical care, heart and vascular, neonatal intensive care, obstetrics, PACU, behavioral health, OR and more. The NAE program offers many benefits, including:

• academic knowledge and experiences from many nursing programs
• the opportunity to work hip-to-hip with experienced Cleveland Clinic RNs
• development of soft skills, including critical thinking and decision-making, identification of changes in patient status, interdisciplinary collaboration, organization and prioritization
